We are writing to you requesting that the city consider partnering with the County and other NE area cities to update
the County's NE Sub -Area study in 2018, The NE Wright County Sub -Area Transportation Study was completed in 2004
and is need of updating for future growth considerations.
The County Board has budgeted $100,000 towards an update to the County's overall transportation plan for 2018
(which will incorporate an update of the NE Study). With a contribution from the cities in the NE area (St, Michael,
Otsego, and Albertville), the updated plan can provide more in depth detail in the analysis of priority routes In the NE
area of the County. Any contributions by cities would be in addition to the $100,000 that the County has budgeted for
the 2018 plan update.
A transportation engineering firm would be hired to work on the update, perform analysis, and develop a long term
transportation plan that would benefit current and future planning efforts in the NE area and county wide.
While we would like a commitment now, the city may provide funds towards this plan anytime over the next 12 to 18
months. This would allow the city to budget this expenditure into the appropriate budget cycle. We are requesting that
the city consider contributing $15,000 to this plan as a way to continue supporting successful completion of the projects
and benefits identified in the 2004 NE Wright County Sub -Area Transportation Study. Added city funding would provide
flexibility to add to the scope of work tasks accordingly.
