RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the purchase of a Toro 5910 Model Number 31699 from IVITI Distributing for the quoted
price of $91,591.91 which includes a $12,000 trade-in price for the 2012 Toro 4010 PW# 51.

The Parks and Recreation Department currently maintains approximately 105 acres of turf and 22 miles
of trails throughout the City. To aid with the maintenance of these amenities, the City had purchased an
eleven foot wide area mower in 2012. Since that time, this mower has become an integral part of the
Department's mowing operations logging over 2,300 hours.
During the Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) process, the wide area mower had been identified for
possible replacement in 2018. Staff is recommending going from the current eleven foot deck
configuration to a mower with a sixteen foot deck. The difference in configuration would allow for total
mowing time to be decreased thereby decreasing the mower's annual operating hours.
Staff has been made aware that the current state contract, which expires at the end of December 2017,
is in the process of being renegotiated. With the potential for an increase of over $2,000 for the
purchase of a new mower staff is recommending purchasing the replacement for the 2012 Toro 4010
pw# 51 in December of 2017.
Staff had reviewed this mower purchase initially at the September Public Works Sub -Committee
meeting and with the City Council in October. Staff has traditionally brought fleet CIP items back to the
Public Works Sub -Committee for a final review, however, due to the timing of the state contract expiring
and with the Public Works Sub -Committee meeting scheduled after the only City Council meeting
scheduled in December, this review will be unable to occur.
