Nathe1O1 Market isplanning their annual Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival specialevontfor2O13to
be held between September 21 and October 31 at their location east of TH 101 at CSAH 39. The
organizers are requesting tolocate a temporary signs onthe Lefebvre atthe north ofC8AH39adjacent
toTH 101 and the 8enesh property north of[SAH 42 east ofTH 101. The organizers have proposed
including the City logo onthe signs 1opromoteOtsegoespartoftheevonlvvithnocosttotheCity. The
proposed temporary signs would not be permitted but for the use of the City logo with approval by the
City Council as they would then be interpreted as being "'Official Signs" allowed by the Zoning
Ordinance.
The City does not have anadopted policy regarding the use of its logo by third parties. Asthe logo
represents the City's identity and reputation use of itshould belimited toofficial City business such as
communications, facilities, official signage, events and services. Third party use of the City's logo may
be considered on a case-by-case basis for community wide collaborations orevents when the City ba
sponsor orparticipant. Within this context, criteria that the City Cound|may consider regarding use of
the City logo as reqUested by Nathe 101 Market Include:

The potential exposure of the City as part of Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival is significant and does
result in potential economic benefit for other area businesses. The event will be advertised on local
radio stations, area billboards, social media and websites, which identify the location of the event as
Otsego thus promoting the City's identity. The City has allowed the use of the City logo for similar signs
related to the annual Rockwoods Bar and Grille JamFest special event. City staff has drafted a resolution
allowing Nathe 101 Market use of the City logo for the proposed signs, which is attached for
consideration, at the City Council meeting on 12 August 2013.

CITY OF OTSEGO
COUNTY OF WRIGHT, MINNESOTA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING USE OF THE OFFICIAL CITY OF OTSEGO LOGO ON
SIGNS FOR THE 2013 NATHE 101 MARKET SPECIAL EVENT.
WH E REAS , the City of Otsego has established its official log o (s) to represent the
City's identity and reputation; and,
WHEREAS, use of official City logo(s) is determined at the discretion of the City
Council and is limited to official City business such as communications, facilities, official
signage, services and events; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council may allow third parties use of official City logo(s) on
a case-by-case basis when doing so is in the best interest of the City as determined by
the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, Nathe 101 Market is promoting its annual Harvest Corn Maze and
Fall Festival special event from September 21, 2013 to October 31, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event is estimated
to have attendance of several thousand consisting people from Otsego, surrounding
communities and the region, and,
WHEREAS, the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event has a
potential significant economic benefit for Otsego business both for event related
patronage as well as increased awareness of the Otsego market; and,
WHEREAS, Nathe 101 Market is requesting use of an official City logo on sign(s)
located adjacent to TH 101; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed signs are in addition to other event advertising
including radio and advertising, signs located outside of Otsego targeting a regional
audience for the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event that promote the
City of Otsego as the event location; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed signs would be displayed only for a limited period prior
to and during the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed signs serve a functional purpose of directing event
patrons to the location as well as advertising Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival
special event; and,
WHEREAS, the organizers of the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special
event are providing the proposed signs at no cost to the City and use of the signs will
have no impact to City service capacity; and,
WHEREAS, the use of an official City logo on signs identifying the Harvest Corn
Maze and Fall Festival special event is consistent with the City's goals to promote
business development and community identity; and,
WHEREAS, the Request for Council Action for the City Council meeting on 12
August 2013 and all exhibits thereof, prepared by the City Planner, is incorporated
herein.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Otsego
that Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event may use the official City logo on
two (2) signs identifying the 2013 event provided that:
All graphics related to official City logo(s) remain the property of the City of
Otsego with permission granted for its use only as specifically provided for
herein. All other uses are prohibited.
Z The Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event shall utilize the official
City logo only on sigs at the following locations:
a. PID 118-500-143200.
b. PID 118-500-262102.
3. The organizers of the Harvest Corn Maze and Fall Festival special event shall
submit to the Zoning Administrator a proof image of the proposed signs for
approval prior to any public display of the signs.
4. The signs that include the use of the City logo shall be removed from public
display by 11 November 2013.
