RE: Prairie Park Master Plan
At the June 2013 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the Commission began
the process of revising the Prairie Park Master Plan. At that meeting, future field
locations, irrigation, utilities, and park amenities were discussed. Commissioners
directed City staff to revise the Prairie Park Master Plan map and get quotes for running
potable water and electric out to the softball/ baseball complex.
Once a master plan is in place, staff will formalize a plan that addresses the future
irrigation needs of the park. This plan will take into account the current irrigation
format and how to best integrate it with future irrigation needs.
Staff will be presenting the quotes for the water and electric at the August Parks and
Recreation Commission meeting.

Conclusion
The Parks and Recreation Commission will review the information outlined in this memo
at their meeting on August 14, 2013. Once reviewed and revisions made, staff is
requesting that the Commission recommend that the City Council formally adopt the
Prairie Park Master Plan.

RE: CIP Review for School Knoll Play Structure
At the July 2013 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting during the CIP review the
commission reviewed the replacement for the pre -k playground equipment replacement
which is set to be replaced in 2014. The commission reviewed different options for the
replacement and directed staff to bring more options with costs that included removal
and installation to the August meeting. Staff will be presenting these costs at the
Commission August 14 Commission meeting.

The Parks and Recreation Commission will review the information outlined in this memo
at their meeting on August 15, 2013. Once reviewed and revisions made, staff is
requesting that the Commission recommend that the City Council adopt the
replacement of the School Knoll playground structure as part of the 2014 Capital
Improvement Plan.
