RE: Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Presentation
The City Council included creating a parks and recreation system master plan into the
2018 Capital Improvement Plan. During that discussion, the City Council identified the
importance of Parks and Recreation Commission being involved throughout the entire
process.
Selecting a company to provide professional parks and recreation master planning
services is one of the first steps in the planning process. Commissioners had an
opportunity to review a proposal from SRF at the January 2018 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting. Commissioners then had an opportunity to discuss how to move
forward with selecting a company for planning services. Commissioners recommended
that staff create a request for proposal (RFP) and recruit other firms to submit
proposals for planning services.
Staff reviewed several RFPs from other communities and developed a draft RFP for the
Commission to review and provide feedback. Staff have included sample RFP's from
other communities with the February Parks and Recreation Packet.
