Call to Order.
Chair Angie Dehn called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Roll Call: Chair Angie Dehn; Commissioners: Jim Breitbach, Angela Hilde, Kitty Baltos,
Doug Cassady, and Derrick Stark.
Absent: Commissioners Travis Rittenbach and Cara Husak
City Council: Mayor Jessica Stockamp.
Staff: Ross Demant, Parks and Recreation Director and Connie Schwecke,
Administrative Assistant
1. Open Forum.
2. Consider Agenda Approval.
Commissioner Hilde motioned to approve the agenda. Seconded by
Commissioner Breitbach. All in favor. Motion carried.
3. Consider Meeting Minutes.
3.1 November 16, 2017 Regular Meeting Minutes.
Commissioner Stark motioned to recommend to the City Council to
approve the regular minutes as written. Seconded by Commissioner
Baltos. All in favor. Motion carried.
4. Unfinished Business.
5. New Business.
5.1 Minnesota Medical Solutions Grant.
Parks and Recreation Director Demant presented and discussed the program and the
four areas the City would like to develop: edible landscapes, pollinator gardens, rain
barrel program and emerald ash borer education.
Commissioner Chair Dehn motioned to recommend to the City Council
to proceed with using the Minnesota Medical Solution Grant funds for
the edible garden, pollinator gardens, rain barrel and emerald ash
borer educational programs. Seconded by Commissioner Stark . All in
favor. Motion carried.
5.2 Summer Programs for 2018.
Parks and Recreation Director Demant and Administrative Assistant Connie Schwecke
both presented and discussed the new programs in development for the summer of
2018. After discussion the commissioners agreed to develop the programs listed and
ITEM 3.1
Mayor Stockamp requested staff to look into and possibly offering a drive in movie night
in the fall to market our teens.
Commissioner Hilde requested to offer bean bag tournaments in the parks
6. Parks and Recreation Director Update.
Parks and Recreation Director Demant updated the commissioners on the following City
developments and events.
Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
Parks and Recreation System Master Plan
Prairie Park Master Plan
Santa Day
7. City Council Reports.
Mayor Jessica Stockamp updated the commissioners regarding the success of the Gifts
Anonymous program where 541 kids in the community were served.
8. Adjourn.
Commissioner Baltos motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner
Hilde. All in favor. Motion carried. Adjourned at 8:44 P.M.
