Staff is recommending the City Council approve the quote from Lano Equipment, Inc. for the purchase of a
Felling FT16-2 trailer.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2018 CIP includes the purchase of a 24' deck over/tilting trailer. The unique tilting feature allows for
20' of the overall 24' length to tilt back allowing easy loading and unloading of equipment. This trailer will
give staff another trailer with the ability to get multiple pieces of equipment on at one time. It also gives
staff the ability to use this trailer as a means to get disabled equipment back to the shop in case of
breakdowns. This trailer has a very ergonomic design with the lack of awkward ramps and an elevated
operating height to allow for efficient loading and unloading. The deck over design allows for a very open
top area that will also allow the trailer to be used as a stage in some of the Parks & Recreation activities
providing an estimated $700/year savings in rental charges.
Staff has requested and received state contract quotes for a Felling trailer from Lano Equipment, Inc. and
for a Towmaster trailer from RDO Equipment, Co. for $16,513.25 and $17,638.50 respectively. Staff is
recommending that we purchase the Felling trailer from Lano Equipment, Inc. for the low quote of
$16,513.25. This amount is below the 2018 budgeted amount of $17,000. The Public Works
Subcommittee was presented with this information at the Feb. 21St meeting and recommended that it be
placed on consent agenda.
