RE: Splash Pad Repair
In 2017, staff discovered a line break underneath the concrete that feeds water to one
of the features. Funds were identified during the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
planning process to repair the line break and treat the water coming into the splash
pad.
After researching different options (i.e. recirculating system and treating the iron, or
just treating the iron) Staff is recommending continuing to operate the splash pad
without the repairs during the 2018 season. This would have the splash pad operating
at the same level as the 2017 season. We currently know the overall water
consumption for both the irrigation and splash pad, however, staff need to have an idea
how much water is used annually by the splash pad to develop a plan for treatment.
Staff will be installing a flow meter which will be used to measure that information.
Requested Action:
Staff is requesting that Commissioners review the information included in this memo
and provide a recommendation to staff on how to proceed with the splash pad repairs.
