Staff is -recommending the City Council approve the quote from Ziegler CAT for the purchase of a track skid
loader for the amount of $33,240.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2018 CIP includes the replacement of PW14, which is the 2010 John Deere 320D skid loader. As of
March 9, 2018, this skid loader has 923 hours. This piece of equipment is used for various maintenance
duties in both the parks and street departments. PW14 is currently not equipped with high flow hydraulics,
which limits its abilities to run attachments such as a stump grinder and asphalt mill. PW14 also has wheels
which limits the surfaces it can be operated on such as the interior of parks, and for storm water pond
maintenance. Finally, the current skid loader only has one speed which significantly decreases its
performance capabilities. PW14 with attachments has been given a $26,500 trade in value.
Staff has received state contract quotes from Ziegler CAT and Lano Equipment on the same size machine.
Ziegler CAT had the lower quote due to a better trade in value for PW14. Total cost after trade for the new
track skid loader and attachments is $33,240. The amount budgeted in the CIP is $35,624. The purchase of
this track skid is $2,384 under budget. Staff presented at the March Public Works Subcommittee meeting
where it was recommended to be put on consent agenda for approval
