BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2018 CIP includes the replacement of the 1999 F578 Boom/Sign Truck. The purchase of the sign truck
chassis was approved at the January 8, 2018 City council meeting and we anticipate having that chassis by
the end of April. The next phase of this project is to complete the buildout on the truck. Staff has been
working with ABM Equipment & Supply and Truck Utilities Inc. to spec out identical builds for the body of
the truck.
Staff has requested state contract pricing quotes on the buildouts of the truck from ABM Equipment &
Supply and Truck Utilities Inc. and received quotes of $69,040.50 and $97,316.00 respectively. Staff is
recommending that ABM Equipment & Supply complete the buildout of the sign truck for $69,040.50. This
brings the total purchase price of the truck to $114,442.50 which is under the budgeted amount of
$116,000. The Public Works Subcommittee was presented this information at the February 21" meeting
and recommended that it be placed on consent agenda once the final details of the buildout quote were
completed. Staff was also directed to place the old boom/sign truck on auction to be sold at a $6,500
reserve, which will offset the price of the vehicle.
