AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff is recommending the City Council approve Andy Lindenfelser for the Utility Seasonal Maintenance Worker position. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION The 2018 Utility budget included $15,600 dollars to provide seasonal assistance for the Department. Five applicants responded to the position advertisement and four were interviewed. Two candidates are currently enrolled in the Water Environment Technology (WET) Program at the St Cloud Tech College which provides training in the water and wastewater field to become State Certified Operators. Staff is recommending Andy Lindenfelser for the Utility Seasonal position. Andy is one of the candidates in the WET program and had completed a two week internship in Otsego. Preferred qualifications, experience and interest in the field makes him the standout of the group. The background check, testing and license check was complete and successful. Andy is agreeable with wage of $13 dollars per hour and starting date of June 18th based on school completion. Responsibilities will include general operator assistance, hydrant flushing, valve turning, collection and distribution maintenance, equipment operation, labs, lift station cleaning and inspections, daily rounds and housekeeping.
