Recommend the purchase of a used Motor Grader including the trade of the current City owned Grader,

BACKGROUNDIJUSTIFICATION:
The Cat 140G motor grader currently owned by the City of Otsego was purchased new in 1988 and has
proved over 13,000 hours of service primarily maintaining gravel roads and performing snow removal.
Although the current grader is presently in good operating condition, it is no longer dependable and
future repairs and maintenance costs are unpredictable and may be costly,
The Public Works Sub -Committee reviewed and discussed staff recommendations to replace or
recondition the current City grader and on August 12th the City Council approved the request to prepare
specifications and advertise for bid proposals for the purchase a used Motor Grader,
Three bids were received, one from Ziegler Inc,, and two from RDO Equipment Co, Upon reviewing the
bids, staff recommends purchasing from Ziegler Inc, the 2001 CAT 143H for the bid amount of $153,000
including the $44,250 trade-in of the City's current blade for the total bid of $116,226,56. This machine
matches the specifications as advertised, is within the budged CIP amount of the machine and staff is
also familiar with the operating systems of the machine,
