OTSEGO CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING

JUNE 11, 2018
Call to Order.
Mayor Stockamp called the meeting to order at 8:25 PM.
Roll Call: Mayor Jessica Stockamp; Councilmembers: Vern Heidner, Jason Warehime, Corey
Tanner and Tom Darkenwald. Staff: Adam Flaherty, City Administrator/Finance Director; Kevin
Lamson, Street Operations Manager; Ross Demant, Parks and Recreation Director; and Tami
Loff, City Clerk.
1. 2019 Budget Discussion.
City Administrator/Finance Director Flaherty said based on information currently available from
Wright County, the City's tax capacity for 2019 tax levy will increase 7-8%. He further said the
City's tax rate for the 2018 tax levy is 36.556; with the current assumptions for increased tax
capacity, if the City were to levy the same amount as it did for 2018, the tax rate would be
estimated around 34.070. The City can increase the levy and still maintain the current tax rate.
City Administrator/Finance Director Flaherty reviewed the staff memo in detail which included
the Pavement Management, Trail Management, Parks Equipment Replacement, Capital
Equipment Revolving, Fire Station, Storm Water and Capital Improvements. Street Operations
Manager Lamson and Parks and Recreation Director Demant were both present for questions
regarding their respective departments. The City Council concurred as presented.
City Administrator/Finance Director Flaherty also reviewed the property tax levy summary. The
City Council concurred as presented.
2. Adjourn,
CM Darkenwald motioned to adjourn. Seconded by CM Tanner. All in favor. Motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:22 PM.
