RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending the purchase of a Ford F-350 one -ton with dump box for $44,967.21 and accepting
the trade-in amount for #38 in the amount of $12,000 from Midway Ford.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION
The Fleet CIP has the replacement of #38, a 2006 Ford F-450 one -ton dump truck scheduled in 2018. This
truck currently has 59,115 miles and is rated at a 15 on the vehicle rating system. Current issues include
rusting out of the cab and rusting out of the dump box. These issues are due to #38 previously being a plow
truck, and for these reasons, staff is recommending replacing this truck with a Ford F-350 one -ton cab and
chassis with a dump box.
Staff has received a state contract quote from Midway Ford of $30,602 for the cab and chassis and
$14,365.21 for the dump box and strobe lighting. Midway Ford has offered a trade-in amount of $12,000.

o Trade in from Midway Ford: $12,000
o Total cost: $32,967.21
• Amount budgeted in the 2018 CIP: $41,241
o Trade-in quote in 2017 was $14,000

At their August 2018 meeting, the Public Works Subcommittee recommended this item be put on the
consent agenda for approval.
