AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff is recommending that the City Council adopt a resolution accepting donations for the Prairie Park Flag Memorial Project. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: During Jonathon's fundraising efforts for his Flag Memorial project, certain groups and individuals endorsed checks to the City to be used specifically for the project. Donations endorsed to the City totaled $1,850.00, with $1,485.53 being reimbursed to the Kuehn family for costs associated with the project. The net remaining balance of $364.47 will be used by the City to help cover costs with future replacements of the flags within the memorial. BUDGET INFORMATION FUNDING: -BUDGETED: N/A I N/A CITY OF OTSEGO COUNTY OF WRIGHT STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO: 2019-08 ACCEPTING A DONATION TO THE CITY WHEREAS, the City of Otsego is generally authorized to accept donations of real and personal property pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 465.03 for the benefits of its citizens, and is specifically authorized to accept gifts; and WHEREAS, the following persons and entities have offered to contribute the cash amounts set forth below to the City; and Otsego Great River Riders $500.00 Rotary Club of Rogers $150.00 Mathnasium of St. Michael $200.00 Richard & Jacquelyn Kuehn $500.00 Otsego Lions Club, Inc. $500.00 WHEREAS, the terms or conditions of the donations are that they support the Prairie Park Flag Memorial which is an Eagle Scout Project of Jonathon Kuehn; and WHEREAS, all such donations have been contributed to the City for the benefits of its citizens, as allowed by law; and WHEREAS, the City of Otsego sincerely thanks the aforementioned persons and entities for their generous donations and for their support of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council fmds that it is appropriate to accept the donations offered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA: 1. That the donations described above are accepted.
