City staff is recommending that the City Council approve the purchase of a used asphalt tack trailer.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Staff was recently presented with an opportunity to replace our aging tack trailer with a used 2016 Cimline
Model TX -250 from Ruffridge-Johnson Equipment Co., Inc. Our current tack trailer was built in-house by
staff approximately 12 years ago and was originally scheduled for replacement in 2020. This tack trailer is
equipped with many options that can improve safety and efficiency like electric start, direct drive pump,
and plug-in overnight heat.
Staff had the amount of $22,000 originally budgeted for the purchase in the 2020 Fleet CIP, but this trailer
is currently available for $12,000, for a savings of $10,000. Staff is planning on placing our old tack trailer
on the Govdeals auction site upon approval.
Staff presented this information to Public Works Subcommittee members Tanner and Warehime and they
recommended that it be placed on consent agenda.

Motion to approve the purchase of a Cimline Model TK -250 asphalt tack trailer from Ruffridge-Johnson
Equipment Co., Inc, for $12,000.
Motion to authorize City staff to place the current asphalt tack trailer on an auction site, further directing
staff to accept any reasonable auction proceeds.
