AGENDA ITEM DETAILS
' RECOMIMENDATION: `
City staff recommends adoption of an ordinance specifying that winter parking restrictions are in effect
November 1 to April 30.
ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CQNTRACT? , I&A PUBLIC.HEARING REQUIRED?
No No
Section 7-2-2.0 of the City Code establishes parking restrictions for on street parking during winter. No
parking is allowed on any public street between the hours of 2:OOAM to 6:OOAM from November to April.
The purpose of the parking restrictions is to allow for snow plowing operations to occur overnight
unimpeded by parked cars. Plow operators would have to first avoid the parked car and then once the car
has moved there is snow remaining within the street obstructing traffic flow.
The winter parking restrictions are enforced by the Wright County Sherriff's Office. WCSO has requested a
clarification to the City Code stating that the dates of the restrictions are "November 1 to April 30" to aid in
their enforcement. City staff has drafted an ordinance amendment to this effect for consideration by the
City Council.
