AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends revising the project completion dates and re -advertising the City Project 19-03, Lift Station No. 7. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The bid opening for the Lift Station No. 7 project was held Wednesday, June 5 at 2:OOPM, with no bids being received. City staff have reviewed the plans, specifications, and bid advertising webpages and there are no obvious reasons for the lack of bids. City staff are aware of other projects in and around the metro area that are receiving bids higher than anticipated and that has been attributed to the amount of work that is out there and contractors being behind on projects this spring due to the weather. Currently the substantial completion date is September 15, 2019, which requires complete installation of the lift station, forcemain, watermain and appurtances. Only final grading, removal of the existing temporary lift station and turf establishment would remain to be completed by November 1,2019. If the project completion dates can be extended and the project is rebid it is staffs opinion that the City would receive bids. City staff are in discussions with D.R. Horton regarding a revised timeline considering they have not begun grading of Magnolia Landing at this time. The engineer's estimated construction cost for this phase of construction was $203,423.00.
