BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Staff was contacted by friends and family of Jeremy Pumper in May 2019 inquiring about donating a tree
and plaque in his memory. Jeremy was a former Otsego resident who tragically died in a snowmobile
accident earlier this year.
City staff reviewed the donation policy with the family and worked with them to determine the best
location for the tree. An area at Prairie Park, where a tree that recently had to be removed, was chosen as
a suitable location. The family will be paying for the purchase and installation of the tree. They will be
using staff approved contractor for the installation.
A mock-up of the memorial plaque is included with this memo. The mock-up follows the City policy for
content and will be paid for by the Pumper family.
Both the tree and plaque donation follow the City policy. Staff will be overseeing both the installation of
the tree and memorial plaque.

RESOLUTION NO. 2019-37
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION
FROM THE PUMPER FAMILY
WHEREAS, The Pumper Family has made a donation of a tree and plaque in the
memory of Jeremy Pumper to the City of Otsego; and,
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of
real or personal property be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the
governing body; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota that the donation by The Pumper Family is
hereby accepted.
ADOPTED this 221h day of July, 2019 by the Otsego City Council.
