#9.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Well #1 has poor water quality and low water volume. A test well down to the Mount Simon Aquifer was
completed with favorable results for low contaminates and good flow.
An easement or property acquisition of approximately % acre of property to the City is needed for
construction of Well #9. An appraisal of the property needed from the School District has been completed.
A CIP estimate of $1,100,000 was presented for completion of the project. Preliminary estimates from a
couple of municipal well drilling contractors indicate the project will remain under the budgeted amount.
At this time, City staff is requesting authorization for Hakanson Anderson to commence preparation of plans
and specifications for Well #9. Engineering costs for the well are note expected to exceed $65,000. This
includes electrical, SCADA and any well house modification design required.
The project is anticipated to be bid in early 2020 and completed prior to June 15, 2020.

ORDERING PREPARATION OF
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR WELL #9.
WHEREAS, a resolution of the City Council adopted the 231d day of
September 2019, ordering Hakanson Anderson to prepare plans and specifications
for the public improvements of Well #9.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. Hakanson Anderson is hereby designated as the engineer for this
improvement, and are hereby directed and authorized to prepare plans and
specifications for the making of such improvement.
Adopted by the council this 23rd day of September, 2019.
