Staff recommends approval for Hakanson Anderson to prepare plans and specifications for the 2020 Street
Micro -Surface Project.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The City of Otsego, as part of the ongoing Street Renewal Program, completes an annual street renewal
project to rejuvenate streets in failing or near failing conditions. The 2020 Street Renewal Project includes
micro -surfacing (thin leveling bituminous cement + thin layer of bituminous cement). Striping of these
streets would be included in the 2020 Street Maintenance Project. This project is part of the Capital
Improvement Plan with a budget estimate of $235,768. Attached is an exhibit showing the streets which
are currently proposed for maintenance in 2020.
With approval to complete, the City Council should expect plans and specifications available for approval
and authorization for advertisement for bids in February 2020. The project could potentially be awarded to
the lowest responsible bidder in March 2020.
