City staff recommends that the City Council approve hiring of Andy Lindenfelser for the Utility Operator
position.

BACKGROUND/J USTI FICATION:
The City Council approved on December 9, 2019 the advertisement of a full-time Utility Operation position.
The application period for the position closed on January 9, 2020, with a total of three qualified
applications being received. Interviews were offered to each of the three applicants, who were interviewed
by Utility Department staff, a Park & Recreation Department staff, and the Human Resource Generalist.
The interview panel concurred and provided recommendation for hiring of Andy Lindenfelser. Andy has
provided seasonal assistance for the Department since the summer of 2018. He has a solid background in
the Otsego operations and maintenance practices while maintaining a class D wastewater and class D
water license earned from the Water Environment Technologies program achieved from the St. Cloud
Technical College.
Andy has passed the required background testing procedures, and it is expected that Andy would begin
full-time employment immediately upon Council approval.
