City staff is recommending that the City Council call for a special meeting for elected officials training.

BACKGROUND/J USTI FICATION:
Last year, the City Council conducted a search process for a City Attorney. Ultimately the City Council
selected David Kendall from the firm of Campbell Knutson to serve as the City Attorney.
During the respective interview process, City Attorney Kendall introduced an idea to annually host an
elected official training session. This opportunity piqued the interest of the City Council. At the last meeting
on January 27, the Council concurred with scheduling such a training session with the City Attorney.
The topics of discussion will ultimately be determined by City Attorney Kendall and the Council, but could
include items such:
- Open Meeting Laws
- Public Communications
- Legislative Updates
- Policies
- Other
