City staff recommends the City Council approve accepting bids and awarding the contract for the 2020
Street Micro -Surface Project, City Project No. 20-02.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Bids were opened for the 2020 Street Micro -Surface Project, City Project No. 20-02 on March 3, 2020,
with only one bid received as shown on the attached Bid Tabulation.
The Street Management Program which is part of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the City had
estimated this project to cost approximately $235,768. Upon completion of the plans and
specifications, the estimated project costs for the Micro -Surface Project was approximately $244,607. The
project costs as bid, $198,524.40 and engineering of $9,926.22 bring the current project cost to $208,450.62.
City staff recommends awarding a contract to the low bidder, ASTECH. ASTECH has completed Street
Maintenance and Micro -Surfacing Projects within the City of Otsego in the past, with the work being
completed to specifications and in a timely manner.
