City staff recommends the City Council accept quotes for repairs to the Public Works Building trench drain.

The 2020 CIP includes funding for the repairs to the trench drain in the vehicle storage portion of the public
works building. There are several sections where the grates have completely collapsed and City staff has
had to cover the trench drain with sheets of plate steel to avoid vehicles dropping into the drain.
City staff has requested quotes from three separate contractors to assist in the completion of this project.
There will be a contractor for each of the following stages of this project: 1) concrete cutting and utility
locating, 2) materials provider, and 3) installation and concrete replacement. Once the concrete is cut, City
staff will be doing the removal of the existing drain and concrete materials.
Quoted pricing for the project is:
• Central MN Concrete Cutting $5,800.00
• Duinick Concrete $11,423.16
• R&D Concrete Construction $17,000.00
Total $34,223.16
The quoted price is $2,123.16 in excess over the 2020 budgeted amount of $32,100. Staff is
recommending that the City proceed with this project through the recommended contractors. The Public
Works Subcommittee was presented with this information at the March 18 meeting and recommended
that it be placed on the consent agenda for City Council approval.
