Street Trunk Watermain and authorize advertisement to bid.

BACKGROUND/J USTIFICATION:
With Water Tower #4 site purchase agreements fully executed and construction of the water tower
anticipated to begin in 2021, the 16" trunk watermain currently ending at Martin Farms Avenue and 70th
Street needs to be extended to the water tower site.
Plans and specifications have been prepared for extending the 16" DIP watermain from the north side of
70th street to the east plat line of Martin Farms 2"d Addition. The watermain will cross 70th Street to the
south side of the street and follow the right-of-way to Macallister Avenue. The watermain will then cross
to the east side of Macallister Avenue which is the water tower site. The watermain will be extended
through the water tower property and stubbed to the east side at the south right-of-way of 70th Street.
The watermain will be placed within the water tower site so as to not interfere with the construction of
Water Tower #4 but allow that project to quickly connect with minimal additional work required.
The trunk watermain will be 100% within the existing right-of-way. Permission from Wright County will be
needed to locate the watermain along the south side of 70th Street but staff anticipates no issues with this.
An approximate 50' temporary construction easement will be needed to stockpile the excavated material
outside the right-of-way on the south side of 70th Street. The timing of the project will allow for all crops to
be harvested from the adjacent field before we need access to the area so staff does not anticipate any
issues with this temporary easement.
The current engineers estimate is $313,139.25. Pending City Council authorization, the bids will be opened
October 20, 2020 and presented for consideration at the October 26, 2020 City Council meeting.
Construction is anticipated to be completed by December 15th, 2020.
