ITEM 4 Highway Safety Improvement Program ApplicationITEM 4 4) Ote TYOF 0 MINNO50TA November 9, 2020 Sara Buermann, P.E. Wright County Traffic Engineer 3600 Braddock Ave NE Buffalo, MN 44313 RE: Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Application To Whom It May Concern, On behalf of the City of Otsego, the City Council strongly supports Wright County's efforts to secure Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding to improve the busy intersection of CSAH 39 and CSAH 19 by eliminating the high speed rural all way stops and replacing it with a modern rural roundabout. The high speed and traffic volumes at the intersection of these two County highways is a concern for our residents, especially during times of high directional peak volumes due to weekday commuter and weekend recreational traffic. It is our vision that improving the rural high speed all way to stops to a roundabout will improve safety by slowing traffic through its geometric design and decrease vehicle conflict points, while also improving mobility and traffic flow for all modes of transportation. We understand and appreciate the County's efforts to eliminate rural high speed all way stops, but that funding is not available. The City of Otsego supports the County efforts and the opportunity to improve this intersection with HSIP funding should be given consideration. Sincerely, Jessica L.
