RE: Dog Park Location
At the August 2013 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting during open forum, a
community member asked the Commission if there was a plan for installing a fenced in
dog park.
The Commission responded that there are two dog parks currently included in the CIP
to be built in new parks, Norin Landing and Darkenwald Landing. The Commission
discussed the possibility of adding a park to an existing park and identified two
locations. The first was Lily Pond Park which is on the west side of the City and the
second was the area located east of the soccer fields and north of public works in the
central park of the city.
The Commission directed staff to put together maps of both locations along with costs
and present both at the September Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.
Exhibits:
A. Map of Lily Pond Park
B. Map of Area North of Public Works
Conclusion
The Parks and Recreation Commission will review locations for a prospective dog park,
along with the associated costs. Once reviewed, staff is requested that the Commission
recommend to the City Council adding a dog park into the and make a recommendation
to the City Council to include the addition of a dog park into the 5 year Capital
Improvement Plan.
