POLICE COMMISSION
HELD AT THE OTSEGO HALL
TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2003
Members present; Sandra Michaelson, Tom Carter, Alvin McClure, Tom Koerwitz, Rudy
Thibodeau, Jane Bartheld, Kathie Davis.
Council Struthers and Virgina Wendel, Sheriff Deputy Dan Anselment.
1. Call Meeting to Order
Commissioner Sandra Michaelson Called meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
2. Consider 6/10/03 Agenda
Commissioner McClure moved to approve agenda. Commissioner Koerwitz seconded the motion.
Motion carried 7-0
3. Approval of 5/13/03 minutes
The Secretary read the minutes. They minutes were approved unanimously.
4. Open Forum
Chair Sandra Michaelson recognized Rose Kohler (14779 83rd St.). Ms. Kohler was
concerned about all of the juveniles out past curfew damaging private property and having
parties late at night. She wanted to know, as citizens, what there options were to get a handle on
this situation. Deputy Anselment suggested that the police dept. should pay more attention to this
area for a couple of weeks and see if it would get better. Also to give out more curfew citations
and that they should always report any crime or suspicious activity going on.
i. Old Business
A. Citizen Complaint Procedure
A motion was made by Commissioner Carter to have a drop box put up in front of City
Hall. Commissioner Thibodeau seconded the motion. Motion passed 7-0.
B. Dog Problem Tom Carter
Tom Carter reported that Pat Slazwedel from Monticello, was handling dog pickups in
Otsego. City Hall to report incidents from 8:00am to 5:00 pm. After this time Wright
County police would be in charge to report dog incidents.
C. Publishing Commission Meetings. Kathie Davis
Newspaper Article
Kathie Davis handle out an example of what she had written for the Star News.
Citizen Observer
Alvin McClure would be the contact for the Sheriffs Department for information.
(issues on Otsego).
6. New Business
A workshop was set up to discuss how the Police Commission should be organized.
Alvin McClure was to see about the Speed wagon software.
7. Adjournment
Chair Michaelson motioned to adjourn, and it was seconded by Commissioner Thibodeau.
Motion Passed unanimously.
