Council Members: Vern Heidner

Meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm. By Tom Carter
Consider Agenda for approval:
Suggested minutes from November 2004 meeting be added for consideration of approval.
Commissioner McClure motioned to approve. Commissioner Theisen second. Passed.
December 2004 minutes: Commisioner Carter motioned to approve. Theisen second.
Passed.
November 2004 minutes: Carter motioned to approve. Theisen second. Passed.
Open Forum:
• Commissioner Koerwitz shared an example of a display seen in a North Dakota
restaurant. The display described the warning signs of Meth use. A website
(www.enercept.com) was listed on the display. The commission discussed the
possibility of getting crime statistics (pin map) information up on the Otsego city
website. There was general agreement that the display was a good idea. Carter
requested further discussion be scheduled for the next meeting.
• Deputies reported things have been pretty quiet with just the usual variety of
activities.
• Councilmember Heidner gave a report on the post office situation. The city and
county met with a division post office person. Currently there are five zip codes
covering Otsego. These will be reduced in number and the number of routes will
be consolidated. The chances of our own post office or zip code are still slim. Zip
codes are not tied to cities.
• Next week there will be an aerial flyover of the county. High-resolution (one
pixel/sq ft.) aerial photos will be taken.
• Snow removal must be done by 7:00am in areas surrounding schools & McGruff
houses.
• Nuisance ban: Of the thirty who violated the city nuisance ban that applies to
yards/property, there are only four remaining outstanding or contesting persons.
• Theisen reported mailboxes have been getting knocked over by the city snow
plows. Hers was knocked down and not repaired by the city.
Old Business:
1. McGruff House There is a PTO meeting February 9th. Carter would like
something like Theisen's handout presented at that meeting. Carter will get school
principal Don Collins' permission to send the McGruff info out to parents.
2. Stamp Update Carter tested it out and it appears to work well. Officers
confirmed the information fits on their cards.
3. Website update info The website address is www.ei.otsego.mn.us.
Commissioners decided we want only our names listed on the police commission
page of the website. Carter had the idea of listing projects we're each currently
working on. Carter would like the website info issue added to next month's
agenda.
New Business:
1. Thibodeau has an idea that we hold workshops immediately after our regularly
scheduled meetings. Carter suggested we add it as the last item on the meeting
agenda.
2. A new list of police commissioner email addresses will be generated by the
secretary and brought to the next meeting.
Adjournment Commissioner McClure motioned to adjourn. Carter second. Motion
passed. Meeting ended at 8:32pm.
