04-11-06 PSC MINOtsego Police Commission Minutes
April 11, 2006
Present: Jeff Stimac, Tom Carter, Edgar Pearsall, Jane Theisen, Joel Torkelson, Sandy
Michaelson, Jessica Stockamp, Sgt. Butch Darsow.
Agenda was unanimously approved.
February's minutes were approved unanimously.
March's minutes were also approved unanimously.
Open Forum
Jessica Stockamp had questions about the legalities of motorized scooters on pathways.
Sgt. Darsow was unclear as to how the ordinance reads. It was mentioned that the city
ordinance may need to be amended. Sgt. Darsow will check on the state statute.
Jane Theisen said there is a white van selling meat in the area. She checked with City
Hall and there have been no peddler's licenses issued.
Lily Pond is becoming a late night gathering place for juveniles. Juv's have been cited
for curfew violations.

Old Business
1. Mc Gruff update. No volunteers at this point.
-- Jessica S. will follow-up with a map of the Mc Gruff houses. She will also see if it
would be possible to link to the Mc Gruff houses from the City's web site.
--Jane T. will see if it is possible to put Mc Gruff flyers in the new resident packages.
--Edgar P. will check with area businesses to see if anyone is willing to donate money
towards the purchase of a Mc Gruff suit. (VFW's, Serviceman's Clubs, etc.)
--Jessica S. will see if flyers could be handed out at the next Safety Camp. She will
report back to Jane T. with the information.
2. Information Tents
--Sandy M. said that Rogers Printing is willing to donate something to help with these.
(Paper, time, etc.) Need to present something to them. It would be free of cost.
Commission may need to look at updating the information on the tents.
3. Citizen Plaques
--Nothing to report at this time.
4. Sergeant's Report on recent crimes in town
--Several damage to mailbox calls.
--A lot of new construction sites are getting copper stolen out of them.
5. MEADA
--Flyers were handed out to all members so they can post them where they see fit.
--All Elementary students were taking them home from school. Articles in the local
papers, also.
--There will be an informational meeting on the 21St at 1:30 at Rogers High School.
Rogers High will be putting up advertising at and around the school.
6. Moving mailboxes on busy county toads
--Tom C. will bring in the information that he has gathered.
--Residents are all OK with it but the sticking point is that approval has to come from the
Post Office.
New Business
1. Attending community events for exposure
--We have had representatives at the MEADA meetings but would like to see more Police
representation.
2. Council meeting reports
--Cherise was not -present at this time.
--Jeff stated that the snowmobile club gave their end of the year report. It was all positive.
Floyd stated that the dirt roads were in terrible shape. He was assured that they would be
fixed in a timely and logical manner.
--Jessica S. gave an update on the County Rd. 42 project. Concerns were also expressed
about vehicle speeds in the area of the schools. Sgt. Darsow will follow-up with patrol
and see if they can run some Lazer in the area in an attempt to slow the speeds.
3. Council meeting assignments
--April 24. Everyone will be at the MEADA event at Rogers High
--May 8. Edgar P.
