03-14-06 PSC MINPolice Commission Minutes March 14, 2006 Meeting called to order by Chair Tom Carter at 6:35pm. Commission members present: Tom Carter, Joel Torkelson, Jane Theisen, Cherisse Ruschmier, Jeff Stimac, Alvin McClure and Sandy Michaelson. City Council liaison, Mark Thorsted. Agenda was unanimously approved. Nothing presented in Open Forum. Jane reported that the McGruff coloring contest had 103 entries. Godfather's Pizza, Rudy and Margaret Thibodeau, had given 80 gift certificates as prizes. They graciously provided 23 more and each child that participated was rewarded. Jane sent a thank you to the Thibodeaus. Star News took a photo of the 10 best posters and creators. Jane's goal is to have 15 McGruff houses by summer. Star News is going to do a "blurp" asking for volunteers. The Otsego/Rogers MEADA event was discussed. The next planning meeting for the April 24th community event will be 10 am March 24th at the Rogers High School. Joel gave a list of the panel participants which includes a recovering addict, Sheriff Gary Miller, Wright County Attorney Tom Kelly and several others. Sheriff's report was reviewed. Sheriff's report was reviewed. Alvin said he had handed the restaurant tents over to possibly Phil. It was mentioned that the text might be outdated now that Sudafed is no longer easy to purchase in Minnesota. One of the deputies mentioned that there had been a meth lab taken down in Wright County on March 13th° first for the year. Mark believes that the Citizen Plaques were approved by the city council. Alvin proposed that the commission members make themselves more visible, when attending community events to introduce themselves as members of the Otsego Police Commission. Sandy attended the February 27th City Council meeting. Nothing to report to commission. Meeting adjourned at 7:22pm.
