BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Title 6, Chapter 3 of the City Code regulates the use of firearms within the City. Section 6-3-2 of the City
Code states that updates to the map designating areas within the City where no firearms discharge is
allowed must be published by September 1st of each year. If no map is published, then the No Discharge
Zone map remains the same as was in effect the previous year. City staff is recommending updates to the
No Discharge Map to include additional areas where developments have been approved.

RESOLUTION NO: 2021-58
APPROVING AN UPDATE TO THE FIREARMS NO DISCHAGE MAP
WHEREAS, on Title 6, Chapter 3 of the City Code establishes regulations for the use of firearms within the
City; and
WHEREAS, Section 6-3-2 City Code provides for a map designating the areas within the City where no
discharge is allowed as regulated by Section 6-3-3 of the City Code;
WHEREAS, updates to the No Discharge Map are to be adopted by September 1 each year or the prior
approved map remains in effect; and,
WHEREAS, City staff recommends updates to the No Discharge Map to include properties approved for
development within the No Discharge Zone; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council considered the proposed No Discharge Map at their meeting on 9 August
2021.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA THAT:
1. The No Discharge Map attached hereto as Exhibit A is adopted.
2. The adopted No Discharge Map shall be published in the Official City Newspaper, posted on the
official bulletin board at Prairie Center, and be made available on the City website.

No Discharge Zone; No person may dischargeany firearm within the No Discharge Zone exceptas allowed by Section 6-3-2 of the City Code.
Outside of the No Discharge Zone, no person maydischarge a firearm within 500 feet of any buildingor livestock without the owner's written permission carried on their person in accordance with Section 6-3-4 of the City Code.
