AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends adoption of a resolution establishing no parking zones on Quantrelle Avenue south of 90th Street. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: Quantrelle Avenue south of 90th Street provides access to two commercial office buildings, the Highway 101 Market, and Mississippi Riverwood RV campground that terminates in a cul-de-sac. City staff has received complaints about parking of RVs, boat trailers, and semi-tractor trailers along the street that is impeding turning movements in the cul-de-sac. The parking along the street and within the cul-de-sac specifically has potential to interfere with emergency vehicle access to the area. To prevent congestion in the public street and protect public safety, the City Code establishes that the City Council may designate parking zones upon City streets. City staff recommends that Quantrelle Avenue south of 90th Street be designated as a no parking zone. Enforcement of the parking zone would be the responsibility of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office as part of their contracted services.
