Members present: Joy Swenson, Elaine Norin, Janet Bridgland, Arlene Holen, Joanie Nichols, Norman Schwanbeck and Frieda Lobeck. Suzanne Ackerman represented the City Council. made: Members absent: None Minutes of the previous meeting were read and the following corrections were 1. In the third paragraph from the end, it was Elaine Beatty who approved the memorandum. 2. Paragraph regarding writing article for "OTSEGO VIEW", the January issue had already been issued. Other arrangements are being made. There being no further corrections or additions, Norman moved the minutes be accepted as corrected; Arlene second the motion; motion carried. Joy reported on the dinner given for our community volunteers. It was well - represented. Those attending from our commission were Joy, Elaine and Joanie. The auction brought in $900.00 which is a tidy sum and we want to express our appreciation to the city for such a good dinner. A good time was had by all. Joy advised that our Certified Local Government Status (CLGS) data is now complete and she will ask our mayor for a letter in this regard and see that it is mailed to the Minnesota State Historical Society for approval. Joy also informed us that the City Council has approved our request to have the many filed township records reviewed by Minnesota State Archives for storage and preservation with them. Before this is done, two or three of our members asked to go through them to see just what is there and if there is something we would like to make copies of before the Archives people come. Wednesday, January 31st at 9:00 AM was the date set. Election of officers produced the following for the upcoming year: Joy Swenson, Chair Norman Schwanbeck, Vice Chair Elaine Norin, Secretary Janet thanked all who had participated over the past year and that the next year will be as rewarding for the new officers, The Budget came under discussion again and, since we do not know the exact amount available to us, who is authorized to make expenditures, etc., Norm moved that expenditures shall be approved at a meeting by majority vote and that one person be responsible to submit it to the City Council for approval and payment. Elaine seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Discussion ensued about possible flat files which we feel are needed. Frieda has an opportunity to obtain two 5 -drawer flat files (without a base) for approximately $250.00 each. They are grey steel files in very good condition. They will have to be picked up at their location. Joy said she would discuss this with Judy and see about purchasing them and what procedure is necessary for payment. Arlene moved that we plan to purchase them and Worm seconded the motion which passed unanimously. We were informed BobHolt is sending us -a group of pictures which were taken at our first Heritage Day Festival and Norm suggested we begin thinking of our second annual Heritage Day Festival. Think about what we can do to make it interesting for all and what activities should be involved. Bring'- suggestions to our next meeting. We've been informed duplicate tapings of interviews should be filed with the Wright County Historical Society and it was suggested we invite Maureen to one of our meetings soon. Also it was asked if the "OTSEGO VISION" could be mailed to others outside of our community and concensus was that it could probably be done if it does not become too much of a burden. Also Charmaine of the STAR NEWS would like to attend a meeting so she can take pictures, etc.Arrangements can be made at a later date. No further business to come before the meeting, Norm moved for adjournment seconded by Janet and approved unanimously at 9:00 PM to meet again on February 22, 1996 at 7:00 PM in the City Hall. Respectfully submitted, Frieda Lobeck Secretary
