04-25-96 OHPC MINCITY OF OTSEGO - HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION Meeting - Thursday, April 25, 1996 Otsego City Hall The meeting was called to order by chair, Joy Swenson, at 7:05 pm. Members present: Janet Bridgland,•Arlene Holen, Frieda Lobeck, Joan Nichols, Elaine Norin, Norman Schwanbeck and Joy Swenson. Guests: Peter Rognlie and his father, Gwynn Schwanbeck, Pam Konvicka and her small daughter. No city council member was present. Arlene moved to approve the minutes of the March 28, 1996 meeting; seconded by Frieda. Motion carried. Joy and Gwynn reported on the latest meeting of the David Faribault Celebration to,be held August 10 and 11 in Elk River. Our commiss- ion will be rel?kesented by a float in the parade. Peter Rognli was introduced and presented his written plans for a service project for his Eagle Scout rank. A copy of his presen- tation is attached. It was approved by the commission and signed by the chair, Joy. we were advised that 2 adult Scout leaders are present during the work sessions. It was agreed that at least one member of our commission would be present whenever work is in - progress at the cemetery. Elaine will coordinate activities with Harlan Rask. Norm presented a book written by and donated by John Pepin. In his report as chair of the Heritage Day committee, Norm proposed a display of books, pictures and reproductions of old documents. He hopes to find a speaker to "reminisce" and another to explain briefly the purposes of the Commission. His committee members, Gwynn and Pam proposed a menu for lunch which was approved by the Commission. It was decided to charge a minimal amount for the lunch to help defray expenses, It was suggested that tables be decorated with small antique items, loaned for the occasion, such as a small coffee grinder, oil lamp, old dishes, etc. Members were requested to give to the committee lists of items they will loan. It was decided to serve lunch at 12 noon and begin the program at 1:30. Norm requested additional names and addresses for mailing invitations. Joy agreed to run mailing labels on her computer. Joy reported that she had contacted MHS regarding publication of cemetery and genealogical information. She and Elaine will meet with Park Genealogical Books people at MHS on May 24 to obtain more information. We were reminded of the MHS Workshop at Winona May 17. Forms have been filed for CLG status.
