Meeting - Thursday, June 27, 1996
Otsego City Hall
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by chair, Joy Swenson. All members
were present as well as CM Suzanne Ackerman. Arlene moved to approve the min-
utes of the May 23 meeting; seconded by Frieda; motion carried.
Joy reported on the meeting of the David Faribault Celebration Committee in Elk
River. The Jaycees are sponsoring a quilt raffle at $1.00 per ticket; quilt
will be displayed and tickets sold in Elk River. Our Commission will have a
float in the parade. It will be designed to represent a river ferry. Mae
Spencer will assist and her husband Bob will provide a vintage tractor to pull
it. Joy will provide the trailer. Anyone interested in working on it will
meet at Swenson's home Monday, July 8, at 10 am. About 50 floats have registered
at $50.00 entry fees. There will be 4 or 5 bands, clown units, horses and car-
riages; many activities planned.
No additional information is available on the cemetery project.
Heritage Day, October 6, plans are progressing.
Elaine provided copies of the introductory chapters and a few of the "family
history" pages of her book about Otsego "IN THE BEGINNING". She states she has
gone as far as she can and urged all to read the material and provide her with
comments or corrections. She has received quotes to print 100 copies of 200
sheets printed on 2 sides, including about 10 pictures, with cardstock covers
and plastic spiral binding:
Kinko $1,525.08 including tax
Elk River Printing $1878.00 plus tax and $11.50 per 10 x 12 inch sheet of
photos
Monticello Printing $2,850.00 plus tax
Royal Printing of Buffalo (not yet received)
Elaine plans to request funds from Lutheran Brotherhood as suggested by Norm,
and Wright -Hennepin Electric's "Round -up" program. Joy will advise the City
Council of these plans.
Joy reported that she had contacted the archivist for the Methodist Church to
obtain information and pictures of the tabernacle and camp grounds.
Norm offered a used glass topped display cabinet for the Heritage Room for
$35.00. Elaine moved to purchase it; seconded by Frieda; motion carried. Joy
will arrange for payment.
At 8:30 pm Norm moved to adjourn; seconded by Janet.
