On March 13, 1995, the City Council appointed me a member of the Heritage Preser-
vation Commission for a term to expire 12-31-96. I request that you re -appoint
me for a full 3 year term, to expire 12-31-99.
I have fulfilled my obligation to the best of my abilities.
Attended all meetings
Wrote 18 articles for the Historical Highlights column in the Otsego VIEW
newsletter
Participated in conducting oral histories
Assisted in writing the original bylaws and work rules
Donated 16 hard -cover and 20 soft-cover history books from my library to
the commission
Obtained the Holt diary (1877-1890), a book of poetry by Miles Whitcomb, an
early settler, and other historic material about the Borthwick, Cooley,
Humphrey, Washburn and other families
Assisted in planning and conducting Heritage Day in 1995 and 1996. Wrote
and typed the program folders and 4 brochures to hand out
Designed the rubber stamp to identify items as "Property of City of Otsego"
Established the cemetery project. Obtained assistance from Boy Scouts
through an Eagle Scout candidate who cleaned up the site, surveyed and re-
corded grave locations. Studied death records and old cemetery records in
preparation for organizing the material into book form.
Served as secretary for the year 1996
Helped plan the "River Ferry" float for the Elk River parade
Researched, wrote and typed the book "Otsego In The Beginning - 1852 to 1880".
Obtained quotes on prices for printing from 5 printing firms, wrote requests
for funding to Lutheran Brotherhood and Wright Hennepin Electric Trust;
these resulted in grants of $500.00 from each.
Collected material for a second history book, to cover the period beginning
with 1880
