Chair Norm Schwanbeck called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. Joanie Nichols, Frieda Lobeck,
Elaine Norin, Ron Black, Arlene Holen were present. Joy Swenson was absent (excused).
Alternate Janet Bridgland was absent. Council Member Suzanne Ackerman attended.
The fourth sentence of the first paragraph of the April 23,1998 minutes was changed to read
"Alternate Janet Bridgland was absent (excused)". The first sentence of the eighth paragraph of the
April 23, 1998 minutes was changed to read "A special OHPC meeting was scheduled for June
17,1998".
ELAINE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS CORRECTED OF THE APRIL, 1998
MEETING. SECONDED BY FRIEDA. MOTION CARRIED.
Norm reported the City had approved the date of June 17,1998 for the special OHPC meeting.
ELAINE MOVED THE OHPC RENEW ITS MEMBERSHIP IN THE PRESERVATION
ALLIANCE OF MINNESOTA. SECONDED BY FRIEDA. MOTION CARRIED.
Norm mentioned the upcoming Emergency Recovery Workshop at Granite Falls on June 12,
1998. There was not an interest in attending.
Commission discussion of a purchase order request to purchase material needed for storage of
papers and photos was tabled until the June 25, 1998 meeting.
A budget report from the city was unavailable for the May meeting and should be available in
June. Suzanne will talk to Mike Robertson to see if there is a simpler report to see where the
OHPC is at with its budget.
Frieda gave an updated written rep"Otsego Cemetery" booksort on sales and inventory for the "Otsego - in the Beginning"
and the .
Items for the next Otsego View are due June 22, 1998.The article Elaine wrote will be about Edith
Kiichli Kluge and the old brick Ingersoll house.
Joanie and Joy attended the Historic Preservation Conference in Faribault on Friday , May 15. Joy
also attended on Saturday May 16. On Friday there was a bus tour around the city showing many
homes, churches, schools, businesses and other points of interest. Special stops were made at the
Shattuck campus,the Cherub Hill bed and breakfast and The Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior. A
reception and slide presentation was held at the Methodist Church.
Arlene led a discussion on the plans for Heritage Day. Self guided drive by tours with maps were
ideas mentioned.
RON MOVED WE HAVE AN "ICE CREAM SOCIAL " FOR HERITAGE DAY. SECONDED
BY ELAINE. MOTION CARRIED.
Ron moved to adjourn, Frieda seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
