Chair Ron Black called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. Joanie Nichols, Frieda Lobeck, Elaine
Norin, Joy Swenson, Norm Schwanbeck, Arlene Holen and alternate Janet Bridgland were present.
Council Member Suzanne Ackerman attended.
ELAINE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JULY 23,1998 MEETING.
SECONDED BY ARLENE. MOTION CARRIED.
Frieda gave an updated written report on sales and inventory for the "Otsego - in the Beginning"
and the "Otsego Cemetery" books.
The commission discussed the historic context study. Copies need to be made and the OHPC
needs to consider acceptance of the report at the September 24, 1998, meeting. Mike Robertson
requested the hours and mileage of the commission members for this project. These numbers
were tallied and Ron will submit this information to Mike Robertson.
The commission discussed the 1999 OHPC proposed budget. Ron recommended a total of
$6,141.00 with all categories remaining the same as the 1998 budget except the dues and
membership category would increase from $0.00 to $50.00.
JOY MOVED TO SUBMIT THE ABOVE SUGGESTED FIGURES (TOTALING
$6,141.00)FOR THE 1999 BUDGET. SECONDED BY ELAINE. MOTION CARRIED.
The commission discussed with Norm his letter of July 22, 1998, to the OHPC. Norm has agreed
to remain on the commission as a member but desires to resign as chair. Ron has agreed to assume
the position of OHPC chair.
Arlene gave an update on plans for Heritage Day set for October 11, 1998. Ron has agreed to
emcee. Mayor Larry Fournier will greet people. Jacqui Rongli will give a short narrated slide
program,News releases will be sent to seven publications. Frieda and Elaine will type the
invitations. Invitations will be sent to people on the mailing list and will also be included as an
insert in the next Otsego View. Commission members are asked to bring bars. Joy will pick up
"cigar cookies". Norm and Ron will scoop ice cream. People are invited from noon to 4:00 P.M.
Ice cream will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. The program will be at 1:30 P.M.
Arlene moved to adjourn, Janet seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
We meet again on Thursday evening September 24,1998 at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall.
