Chair Ron Black called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Joanie Nichols, Frieda Lobeck, Elaine
Norin, Norm Schwanbeck, Joy Swenson and Arlene Holen were present. Alternate Janet
Bridgland was absent. Council member Suzanne Ackerman attended.
JOY MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 28,1999 MEETING.
SECONDED BY FRIEDA. MOTION CARRIED.
The commission discussed the pros and cons of scanners and how they work. Ron will give Mr.
Snavely a call about a scanner.
Elaine has turned in oral history tapes of interviews with Lauretta Moos, Alvah Hamlet, Willie
Bell, Gene Cooley, Clint Walker and Edith Kiichli Kluge. Joy has tapes of Marguerite Perrault
and one of Paul LaPtant. The tapes of Florence Davis, Jerry Perrault, Norm Schwanbeck, Father
Ebner, and one of Paul LaPlant are missing.
Ron will call Lauretta Moos and invite her to our next meeting.
Ron sent a letter to Charlie Nelson at the Minnesota Historical Society requesting someone from
their office visit the old town hall site and offer recommendations. We are waiting for their
response.
Frieda Lobeck, Arlene Holen, and Elaine Norin each donated $110.00 to the OHPC
JOY MOVED THAT THE OHPC SECRETARY SEND THANK YOU NOTES TO THE THREE
WOMEN FOR THE DONATIONS. SECONDED BY NORM. MOTION CARRIED.
The annual Minnesota Preservation Alliance meeting will be in St. Peter on Friday May 14 and
Saturday May 15, 1999. At our April meeting commitments are needed from those planning to
attend
The Elk River Heritage Festival will be September 18 and 19, 1999. The parade will be Sunday,
the 19', at 1:00 PM. Entries for the parade must be returned by July 31,1999.
Joy reported the results of the Otsego Heritage Day Questionnaires. Seventeen responded.
Everyone thought fall (early October) was a good time of year for this. They liked the slide show,
the bus tour and mainly came to visit with old friends.
NORM MOVED THAT OTSEGO HERITAGE DAY BE HELD ON SUNDAY,
OCTOBER 3, 1999. SECONDED BY ELAINE. MOTION CARRIED.
The commission elected the following 1999 officers:
Chair — Ron Black
Vice -Chair — Joy Swenson
Secretary — Joanie Nichols
Norm moved to adjourn, Arlene seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM.
We meet again on Thursday evening March 25, 1999 at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall.
