10-28-99 OHPC MINCity of Otsego - Heritage Preservation Commission Thursday, October 28,1999 Vice Chair Joy Swenson called the meeting to order at 7:12 PM. Joanie Nichols, Frieda Lobeck, Elaine Norin, Norm Schwanbeck and Arlene Holen were present. Ron Black was absent (excused) and alternate Janet Bridgland was absent. Council member Suzanne Ackerman attended. ELAINE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 23, 1999 MEETING. SECONDED BY ARLENE. MOTION CARRIED. Elaine gave a wrap-up of Heritage Day held on October 3, 1999. People had a good time, the food was fine and attendance was down from last year. Donations of $68.00 were collected. ELAINE MOVED WE ADVISE THE CITY COUNCIL WE HAVE A VACANCY (AS FAR AS THE ALTERNATE POSITION) IN OUR COMMISSION AS DESCRIBED IN OUR BYLAWS. SECONDED BY NORM. NORM, ELAINE, FRIEDA AND ARLENE VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE MOTION. JOY AND JOANIE WERE OPPOSED. THE MOTION CARRIED 4 TO 2. Joy will tell Ron and have him inform the council. Frieda submitted an updated written book report. A copy is attached. NORM MOVED TO DONATE EIGHT"WOMAN IN THE WILDERNESS" BOOKS AS LISTED IN THE ATTACHED BOOK REPORT. FRIEDA SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNAMAMOUSLY. Suzanne said the city council is giving a time limit of 2 months (until December 28,1999) to our commission to present a plan for storing the old town hall. No plan has been submitted. If we get a plan we'd need to know how much it would cost, who would do the work and how long it would be stored. Elaine doesn't want to dismantle it and store it. NORM MOVED TO POSTPONE A DECISION ABOUT THE OLD TOWN HALL UNTIL NEXT MONTH (NOVEMBER) WHEN RON BLACK CAN BE PRESENT.JOANIE SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNANAMOUSLY. The council is still working on our budget. NORM MOVED WE CHANGE THE NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER MEETING DATES TO NOVEMBER 18 AND DECEMBER 16, 1999. ELAINE SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED. Norm moved to adjourn, Frieda seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM. We meet again on Thursday evening November 18, 1999 at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall.
