11-18-99 OHPC MINCity of Otsego - Heritage Preservation Commission
Thursday, November 18,1999
Chair Ron Black called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM. Joanie Nichols, Frieda Lobeck, Elaine
Norin, Norm Schwanbeck, Joy Swenson and Arlene Holen were present. Alternate Janet
Bridgland was absent. Council member Virginia Wendel attended.
NORM MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 28, 1999 MEETING.
SECONDED BY ELAINE. MOTION CARRIED.
Under old business the old town hall was discussed. Norm and Joy questioned if it was worth
saving. Ron said it is the only surviving public building that is still publicly owned. It is currently
close to its original site. Part of the heritage is that buildings moved a lot back then.
NORM MOVED THAT THE OHPC ASK GENE KREISER TO GO OVER AND EVALUATE
THE BUILDING (OLD TOWN HALL) AND SEE IF IT IS SOUND ENOUGH TO
DISASSEMBLE IT AND RESTORE IT LATER. SECONDED BY JOY. MOTION CARRIED
UNANAMOUSLY.
Frieda and Elaine submitted an updated written book report and a corrected copy of the October
book report. Copies are attached.
Virginia said the council budget meeting is scheduled the week of Thanksgiving.
Norm moved to adjourn, Joy seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
We meet again on Thursday evening December 16, 1999 at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall.
Respectfully submitted, Joanie Nichols, Secretary
