Chair Joy Swenson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Joanie Nichols, Sharon Carter, Arlene
Holen, and Frieda Lobeck were present. Norm Schwanbeck and Elaine Norin were absent. No
council member was present..
ARLENE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JULY 26, 2001 MEETING.
SECONDED BY FRIEDA. MOTION CARRIED.
Frieda submitted an updated written book report. A copy is attached.
Joy said that Charlie Nelson (from Minnesota Historical Society) has not been able to look at the
old town hall. The group discussed briefly if they felt it was worth saving. No decision was
reached.
OHPC members also discussed if they felt the McDonald/Peavey house was worth saving and
what it could be used for. No decision was reached.
Joy gave an update on the Elk River HPC and provided a copy of their agenda for August 9, 2001
Joy had talked to Dan Licht regarding the historic preservation designation progress for the
cemetery.
The OHPC decided by consensus not to hold a Heritage Day in 2001 and recommended this to
possibly be a biennial event.
Joy notified us that Norm Schwanbeck has verbally resigned from the commission due to a conflict
with other commitments on the same night as our regularly scheduled meetings.
Joanie moved to adjourn, Arlene seconded. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM.
We meet again on Thursday evening September 27, 2001 at 7:00 PM at City Hall.
