The meeting was called to prder at 6:40 pm. Members present:
Arlene Holen, Frieda Lobeck, Elaine Norin, Joy Swenson. Sharon
Carter absent. CM Jerry Struthers present.
Frieda moved to approve minutes of the May 23 meeting with the
following amendments:
"Frieda reported no activity in book sales" instead of
"Frieda submitted . . . copy attached". Arlene and Frieda
planted "Seven Shrubs" instead of "two plants".
Seconded by Arlene. Mption carried.
Frieda submitted the book sales report. Copy attached.
Discussed plans for meeting with- Cama_tery:.Ass1i.. July 25.
-State objective:, To establish the cemetery as a "Heritage
Preservation Site" to ensure its protection in the future.
-Obtain information requested in letter to Harlan Rask:
-Names and addresses of officers and directors of the
Cemetery Association
-How many graves now exist?
-How many gravesites are still available?
-Who issues deeds to gravesites?
-Are sales restricted to residents of Otsego?
-What does maintenance involve?
-Explain grant funds will be available when cemetery is
officially established as a "Heritage Preservation Site".
Some grants require "matching funds". Are there any funds
available?
-Review Bailey Station Cemetery Bylaws, etc.-'
Reviewed publications received from MHS, Park Genealogical Books,
and State Historic Preservation Office. MHS lists "The WPA Guide
to Minnesota" (back in print) at $17.50 (545 pages). Joy moved
that we purchase a copy. Seconded by Frieda. Motion carried.
Elaine will place order.
The Festival committee will provide flyers to be inserted in our
invitations to Heritage Day.
Discussed name for city park at Kadler Avenue and 101st Street.
Frieda moved to recommend "Lily Pond Park". Seconded by Arlene.
Motion carried. Elaine will send letter advising of this to Mike
Day, Chairman of Parks and Rec. Commission:
Ellen Perrault sent a note stating she is notable to join the
OHPC at this time. No reply received from Todd Ketchal.
A letter from Nat'l. Alliance of Preservation Commissions confirms
renewal of our membership.
The meeting adjourned at about 8:30 pm.
