RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends amending the City Code to change the regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation
Commission from the second Wednesday to the third Tuesday of each month.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Council Member Schroeder, who serves as the liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission, has had
a change in work schedule that would require him to be out of town on the date of the regular meeting
the Parks and Recreation meeting. Council Member Schroeder would like to continue to be the Council
Liaison to the Commission and asked if the Commissioners would consider moving their monthly
meeting to the third Tuesday of the month. After a brief discussion at their meeting on March 12, 2014
during which all the Commissioners stated that a change to the third Tuesday would work with their
schedules, the Parks and Recreation Commission voted 7-0 to recommend that the City Council move
the Parks and Recreation monthly meetings to the third Tuesdays of the month.
The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission is established in Section 3-2-3.A.1 of the
City Code. A change in the regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission from the second
Wednesday to the third Tuesday of each month necessitates an ordinance amendment. City staff has
drafted language modifying the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting schedule as recommended
by the Commissioners.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE SCHEDULED
DATE OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMISSION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. Section 3-2-3.A.1 of the City Code (Parks and Recreation
Commission - meetings) is hereby amended to read as follows:
1. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall hold a minimum of one (1)
regular meeting per month on the GeGeRd VVedResda third Tuesday of
each month unless canceled by the Chair due to a lack of business items
or lack of a quorum.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and publication.
