Information
Wright County’s Long Range Transportation Plan
(LRTP) identifies a funding gap of almost $10
million/yr.
2013 Minnesota legislation provides a local transportation sales tax
funding option
Statute 297A.993 gives authority to County Boards to impose
Sales tax up to a ½ percent on retail sales
100 percent of the revenue received is controlled by the County
100 percent of the revenue received by the county goes towards the
highway projects listed
Vehicles exempt from local option sales tax:
Cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers where a portion of the state
sales tax is already dedicated for transportation use.
Wright County Implemented a ½ percent County-wide
sales tax to fund transportation on June 13, 2017. The
collection of this sales tax expires on December 31, 2022
