Wright County LOST Virtual_Open_House_UpdatedWright County Local Option Sales Tax for Transportation (LOST) 1 Virtual Open House Thursday, October 7th to Thursday, November 4th, 2021 Transportation Sales Tax Funding Option Background Information Wright County’s Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) identifies a funding gap of almost $10 million/yr. 2013 Minnesota legislation provides a local transportation sales tax funding option Statute 297A.993 gives authority to County Boards to impose Sales tax up to a ½ percent on retail sales 100 percent of the revenue received is controlled by the County 100 percent of the revenue received by the county goes towards the highway projects listed Vehicles exempt from local option sales tax: Cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers where a portion of the state sales tax is already dedicated for transportation use. Wright County Implemented a ½ percent County-wide sales tax to fund transportation on June 13, 2017. The collection of this sales tax expires on December 31, 2022 2 Public Comment Opportunities We want your input!
