CITY OF OTSEGO
COUNCIL WORKSHOP
December 7, 2009, 5:30 p.m.
Roll Call: Otsego City Council: Mayor Jessica Stockamp,
Councilmembers Vern Heidner, Tom Darkenwald and Dan Scharber.
Otsego Staff: City Administrator Michael Robertson, Finance
Director Gary Groen and Building Official Harold Leonard.
AFLAC
Tony Wolf of AFLAC was present to review their program. He
said it was insurance for out of pocket health expenses for
employees. He said AFLAC would be complementary to the
City's HSA plan because it would cover expenses that the
City's plan doesn't.
2010 BUDGET REVIEW
Finance Director Groen reviewed the proposed 2010 budget.
This included an increase in Mary Olson's time from
.8fulltime to .9fulltime, which Council approved. It also
included recommendations for salary step increases for three
employees. Council turned down the recommendations due to
the economic situation, but asked that the recommendations
remain in the employee personnel files for consideration next
year. Council direction was to present the budget as revised
at the Truth -in -Taxation meeting but also have a list of
possible budget cuts available.
COUNCIL INTERVIEWS
The Council interviewed the five people who had applied for
the Council position. They were John Brandon, 7840 Parell
Avenue NE; Alexander Marquette, 8283 Parell Avenue NE; Terry
Doerfler, 6101 MacLynn Avenue NE; Michael Ringdahl, 5480
Ramier Avenue NE; and Douglas Schroeder, 8615 Parell Avenue
NE.
