City staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution designating polling locations for 2022.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Minnesota Statute Section 204B.16, Subd. 1 requires by December 31 of each year the governing body of
each municipality must designate by ordinance or resolution a polling location place for each election
precinct. The polling place designations are for the following calendar year.
The attached resolution designates those polling locations for 2022 as follows; Precinct 1A, Prairie Center,
8899 Nashua Avenue NE; Precinct 2A and Precinct 3, Otsego Elementary, 8125 River Road NE.
Minnesota Statues: 204B.14, Subd. 3 and 204B.135.Subd. 1 allow cities the opportunity to redistrict and
reestablish the polling place designations. The deadline for legislative redistricting is February 15, 2022 and
March 8, 2022 for municipalities to acquire maps of school districts located within the municipality. The
deadline for municipalities to reestablish precincts and polling place designations is March 29, 2022.

RESOLUTION NO. 2021-86
DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF OTSEGO FOR 2022
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute Section 204B.16, subd. 1 requires by December 31 of each year the
governing body of each municipality and of each county with precincts in unorganized territory must
designate by ordinance or resolution a polling location place for each election precinct. The polling place
designation are for the following calendar year; and,
WHEREAS, the City must submit confirmation of Otsego’s polling locations to Wright County Auditor’s
Office by December 31, 2021; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. That the City of Otsego, County of Wright, State of Minnesota hereby establishes the polling locations
for 2022:
• Precinct 1A, Prairie Center, 8899 Nashua Avenue NE;
• Precinct 2A, Otsego Elementary, 8125 River Road NE;
• Precinct 3, (combined location with Precinct 2A), Otsego Elementary, 8125 River Road NE.
2. That the City of Otsego will have the opportunity to redistrict and reestablish the polling places
designations following the legislative redistricting intended date of February 15, 2022 and March
8, 2022 for municipalities to acquire maps of school districts located within the municipality. The
deadline for municipals to reestablish precincts and polling place designations is March 29, 2022.
