RE: Carrick’s Landing River Access
Background Information
Staff and representatives from HKGi have been working to incorporate the recommendations
from the January Commission meeting into the revised Carrick’s Landing river access concept
design. The DNR has also been included to ensure that the current design and potential
shoreline restoration fits within their specifications. Gabrielle from HKGi will be presenting the
current conceptual plan with proposed amenities.
The current design has the shelter moving closer to the access and is turned slightly to be in
alignment with the stair and to provide a two-sided view of the Mississippi River. There are two
river access touch points, one for carry in access and the other for the floating dock.
Once modifications have been made to the concept plan and cost estimates have been
obtained. Staff can then proceed with gathering additional data for submitting the Outdoor
Recreation Grant in March.
Requested Commission Action
Staff is requesting that the Parks and Recreation Commission review the presented information
and provide recommendations on the Carrick’s Landing River Access Concept Plan for staff to
proceed with gathering cost estimates.
Possible recommendation:
• Motion to recommendation that staff proceed to gather cost estimates using the
Carrick’s Landing River Access Concept Plan with changes, if any, made.
